Number of Years

Hello there!

I got a few new Stampin’ Up! products from the Occasion’s catalog (Stampin’ Up!’s spring catalog) and wanted to use this new set called Number of Years to make a birthday card for my sister-in-law.  I love the stamps that come with this set – but the numbers are awesome.  I just saw that Mama Elephant is coming out with something similar in their next release (grrr….), but I’m really happy with this set so no regrets!

Bethany is 26! And she’s also pregnant and expecting a little girl! We’re excited to be raising our little girls together – hopefully they’ll be best friends!

Number of Years 2

When I went to stick on the 6, I put it on upside down and made it a 9 – oops! Good thing the dimensionals didn’t fight with me too much when I pulled it up. I just love Bermuda Bay – it’s probably my favorite color.

Number of Years 3

I used some stampin’ sponges to sponge some green ink in the background before I stamped the foliage and flowers. Then I stamped and die cut the other pieces and layered them on top using some stampin’ dimensionals – it was a really quick card – but I love how there is so much vibrance to it.  The stamps have a natural watercolor look to them and I really like how the numbers look.

Happy 26th Birthday, Bethany!

Number of Years

I got some new LED bulbs for my lamps – and it looked fine while I was recording, but when I went to edit my video, that annoying yellow hue was still there! So through the frustration, I edited the video. BUT – I’m happy to report that I’ve figured out the problem.  I’ve been recording on AUTO – which isn’t always a bad thing, but in order to correct the WHITE BALANCE – I had to set my recording to manual so that I could set the white balance to take in the color just right. I tested it out and it looks like I want so I promise my next video won’t have a color issue. 🙂

And….a bit of pregnancy news. Ever failed a glucose test? I totally did that this past Tuesday.  After 10 hours of work today (overtime is in full force right now)…I got that dreadful call. After being instructed that I HAVE TO come in for a 3 hour test, I was also told that I’m severely anemic (my hemoglobin level is 9.6 – this is the kind of level you need an injection for – I know because I deal with this drugs daily in my job). 😦 So I have to change when I take my prenatal vitamins so that I can take slow release iron to help boost my numbers. Ugh……..I really feel like I can’t catch a break! I shouldn’t attribute being tired from working 50 hours a week, right? I have another reason! I get to sit in an office for 3 hours and get blood drawn multiple times and the best part is – I get to make all that time up with work at some point next week.  Needless to say, I’m really looking forward to next week!

Alrighty…I think I’m done whining for now.  I hope you all liked the card! If you want to watch the video, here’s where you can check it out!

  1. Caly, I am Amazed at all you do! Three children and one on the way, a full-time job plus the SU job, and a husband. That alone would make anyone tired. I sure hope that your Hgb level goes up quickly; that is low, for sure. Do you like liver? 🙂
Love your card! I am so often putting things on upside down and doing other screwy things like that. Great effect to sponge green behind the flowers. Bethany is sure to love this card. How exciting that she is having a girl, too!
I am glad you figured out your lighting problem. It didn’t bother me. Ever since I had cataract surgery, my vision is not what it used to be.
Keep us posted on how you are doing.

    1. Hi Marti! I don’t do the SU stuff as a job (more for the discount…hehe). But I love to craft so I consider that a huge hobby and time investment. I eat liver…never! Not bc I don’t like it but because it was never on the menu growing up. Ha! I hope I pass the 3 hour glucose test on Tuesday! I’ve always had trouble with anemia but 9.6 sounds scary!

      1. Caly, I was an R.N. for many years, so I knew that’s pretty low. My mom made liver and onions for her and my dad but did not make us kids eat it. I had it once or twice as an adult. Bleh! Now I would never eat it – too high in fat!
I will pray for a good result on your test on Tuesday.
I was thinking after I replied that making the videos AND listing all the supplies with photos is a major time commitment. That is so very nice of you!
I looked at your Instagram photos, mainly the ones of your family. Your boys are so cute! When is your baby due? I just started following you, so missed that announcement.

      2. Thanks again, Mary! I can’t tell you the countless hours I’ve spent coding things in html format and keeping an inventory to make it convenient for followers…I appreciate you noticing! My baby girl is due early in April. We are very excited and I can’t wait for these next 12 weeks to pass – I don’t want to be tired all the time and worry about anemia or high glucose. 😥

  2. I am always amazed at how you handle all you do. Could you get a doctor’s note to say you can’t do any overtime for a while? You need the time to relax with the boys.
I loved this card, i shouldn’t look at them because then i want more stamps… 🙂

    1. I don’t see a doctor again for another 4 weeks. My current doctor is taking a leave of absence for surgery through the end of March :(. Another bummer since he deliver Noah, Evan and Liam. So I’ll see a new doctor and I’m just not sure….

  3. Oh, Caly, this is a beautiful card, and I love this set and the colors you’ve used. Oh, I’ve done the same thing and stuck on something only to have to pull it off. Yes, it’s a good thing the dimensionals aren’t that sticky! I’m so sorry about the glucose test and have failed one myself (ugh, what a feeling when you dip so low). And then having low hemoglobin beside, oh my! It’s a good thing you are a pharmacists and your DH is a doctor. I continue to pray for you and your little baby and for the whole family. What a joy that your friend Bethany is also having a little girl – they will be besties! Sending hugs and praying for you!
