Hi Everyone!
I typically don’t make Valentine’s Day cards (except one for my husband and minor thing for my kids to pass out at school), but this year, I’ve been commissioned! My neighbor, Stephanie asked me to make 11 cards for her Bunco friends and my realtor friend asked me to make some for her – which I will share later this week – hopefully BEFORE Valentine’s Day (no promises) :D.
She said different designs – so I made two sets. This first set is a watercolor set – and we all know no two cards are the same with watercolor. I used a variety of colors using Distress markers and Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers – brushing them on like slop and then misting them with some water until the ink reacted and moved. While I love the Zig – I think the Distress Markers move a little less and is easier to control. I really need to use my markers more often than I do.
I get excited when I finally use products I’ve had a while. I knew I wanted to use this Stacked Hearts die by Simon Says Stamp and I thought cutting it out in white to overlay a watercolor panel would be really pretty. I got really lazy and used my Xyron creative station to add adhesive to them as well as the die-cut word love. It might be just as annoying as apply glue to all those little spaces since the creative station sticker maker adhesive can get everywhere and you end up using an adhesive remover to clean everything up. I need to remember that I have a bottle of adhesive spray that I should use! I then used the Because stamp set by MFT and stamped/embossed the sentiments in white on black cardstock to finish off the card. These cards were super pretty!
This next set is using Simon Says Stamp’s Candy Hearts. I’ve been wanting a stamp set like this for a while and while I know Valentine’s Day only comes once a year – the price point on this smaller stamp set is terrific! I used my clarity brushes to add the soft falling hearts in the background using a stencil, then simply stamped all the hearts and words in the hearts. To finish off this simple “one-layer” card – I decided to add some stitching and a washi tape accent border. That border really makes a huge difference!
I was also commissioned last week to do something a little different. My realtor friend is a part of a sales team and asked me to design covers for their notebooks. Her team members reside in different regions all across North America so I got some information on what they liked and created these journals:
I got to put my handlettering to use and that was really fun but I was definitely in over my head with this project! There’s NO perfection when you’re free-handing things like this! It was a great experience and I definitely learned a lot! Sorry this picture isn’t great. I took individual photos but don’t want to blow up this post with them. I’ll share Missy’s:
Anyway – catch you all later this week to share Missy’s gliterry Valentine’s Day cards that she asked me to make!
After a week and a half of sickies and germs festering through my household – this girl needs to go to bed early! My body is aching! Take care, everyone!
XOXO,

Thank you! I was worried those cards are too simple and almost didn’t share!

Sometimes ‘clean & simple’ is the most eye catching. You should share every card you make. Don’t think twice…just share.

Your cards are simply amazing and will be so appreciated by the people receiving them! Your water-coloured backgrounds are a lovely canvas for the hearts and sentiment; the candy hearts, sheer delight, especially with the stitched side and black/white diagonal. Your friends will be thrilled to share these! As for the notebook covers: amazing! I second the comment above: share everything!!
