Best Nurse Ever Tissue Box Pop-Up

I’ve been waiting for my husband to deliver these cards to his nursing staff.  But since they’re still sitting on the dining room table unsigned (slacker…), I’m not waiting any longer to share them!  His class graduated from their residency program almost two weeks ago.  He’s not officially done yet but I made these cards for his nurses so the other residents on his team could say goodbye and thank the nurses for all they do.

Tissue Pop Up

For card is 4.25″ x 5.5″ card, you’ll need:

  • a card base measuring 4.25″ x 11″, scored down the middle at 5.5″
  • a card front measuring 4″ x 5.25″
  • a pop-up insert measuring 4″ x 10.5″, scored down the middle at 5.25″, then cut 1 inch on the fold 1″ from each side of the ends for the pop up

I kept the front of the card simple with the sunflowers so I could decorate and place more attention to the pop-up portion of the card.

I hand-wrote the word “nurse” since I don’t have a stamp for it.  To give the tissue box some color, I masked it off prior to gluing it to the card base and colored it using a copic marker, then stamped the bandage on it for a tone-on-tone look.  If you have a small oval die – you can use it to cut out the tissue box hole.  I didn’t have one, but I found a letter O from an alphabet die set that worked for me.

The tissue coming out of it is actually a quarter of a toilet paper square :).

Tissue Pop Up 3

You can make your tissue box in any size you’d like – just cut the slits longer, but make sure it’s still proportionate to your card/tissue box dimensions.  I meant to make this card a landscape card but cut the bases long by mistake.  It still worked out!  I hope you enjoyed this!  Until next time, have a great day!

XOXO,

caly-sig

  1. Ah, Caly, these are DARLING! I love each one of these, and I am not surprised that you hand-lettered “nurse” on each one…makes them unique and so beautiful! I can see that you intentionally made them different. Love your work and especially love your heart! So get that hubby to sign them and give them to all the nurses. Congratulations to you both! You both deserve it because of all the work you put into his career! Hugs! xoxo
