Hi Friends!

The Hello Bluebird May Release is in full swing!  The design team has been working hard to bring fresh designs to show off all the wonderful new stamp sets from Hello Bluebird!  I’ve made two cards to share for release week.

This first one, you may have already seen on Instagram.  It’s made using the Rainy Day stamp set.  I liked coloring with my Tombows so much on a previous project, that I wanted to use them again for this card.

I stamped the image in Antique Linen Distress Ink and colored carefully with Tombow Dual Brush Pens in corners and darker areas, then dragged the color out using a damp watercolor brush.  I was careful not to go over lines and where colors met, I made sure the previous layer was dry to prevent bleeding.

For the background, I scribbled some marker color on a laminated sheet and wet it down to do a wash because I wanted the color to be consistent throughout.  To make their faces pop, I used a black Sakura Gelly Roll pen to accent.

For the second card, I used the new Just Sayin’ stamp set.  The stamps come with blank boards and you can stamp whatever sentiments you want in them – super fun!

I did a background using Distress Oxide Inks using Wilted Violet and Peacock Feathers.  I sprayed/misted the panel with a soft mist to create almost a starry scene – I did want big water droplets.

I then colored the stamped images with Copic markers, adding detail with a white Sakura Gelly Roll pen.  I finished off the card by framing it in with Hello Bluebird’s Gallery Frame Die #1 set.
