Hello!  

This card today is a special one.  It’s my last scheduled winter/holiday card!  I don’t know if that’s sad or relief because it’s somewhat bittersweet!  I’ve been making holiday cards since July – waaaaay too long!

To create my card, I used the new Skating Pond Scene die.  I have been starting my cards lately by creating the card front/base before coloring lately instead of coloring the images first.  Constructing the card and creating the layout is always the most fun for me and this Skating Pond Scene is a fun one!  I die cut the one die, but it cuts all the different segments in the scene and separates them all for coloring.

I used a lot of Distress Oxide Inks to ink-blend the pond, add blue to the snow, brown for the trees and the sunset backdrop:  Vintage Photo, Tumbled Glass, Salty Ocean, Picked Raspberry and Spiced Marmalade.  Instead of coloring all the little pieces between the trees, I left that space open and propped the entire scene up on foam tape to bring the entire scene forward.  I ink-blended the sunset backdrop directly on the card base and I love that behind the scene. 

The pond portion is ink-blended, then covered with Versamark ink and embossed with clear embossing powder to give a sheen for the look of glass. for the snow, I added a line of glossy accent to the top edge and covered it with prisma glitter.

For the images, I stamped and colored using Copic Markers (E0000, E40, E41, W0, W2, C00, C1, E30, E31, E23, YR02, YR14, C5, C7, R20, RV32, RV24, BG15, BG49, V01, V15).  After coloring and die cutting, I added white gel highlights and more prisma glitter over the rims of the winter hats.  The sentiment is stamped on black cardstock and embossed using white embossing powder.
