Hi, Friends! I’ve got two fun projects for you today using this month’s Spellbinders Large Die of the Month and Glimmer Hot Foil Kit of the Month! It’s a 3D bicycle!
So much fun! I used it to create one 3D project and another to combine with this month’s Glimmer Hot Foil Kit of the Month to create a card.
I started by die-cutting all the pieces I knew I would need in several different colors (the bike’s body in mint, seat and handles in black, tires in dark gray, etc). There are a few extra pieces that I had to die cut several times, but once all the pieces are cut, it was really easy to assemble.
To assemble the 3D bicycle, there is one piece that attaches two back wheels instead of 1. The basket is created by cutting 4 pieces to make two boxes that are adhered together. This helps the bike to collapse so that it can be folded flat to be mailed. I LOVE that it can do this!
Next, I die-cut all the flowers and foliage and started arranging them in the basket – filling the areas inside the basket to make it full. It really adds a lot of dimension to the bike and makes it so fun!
For my card, I constructed my bike the same way, leaving off the extra bar that makes the bike 3D and only used one basket panel, trimming off the sides to make it 2D.
After constructing my bike, I used more flowers and foliage to form a floral spray behind my basket in the same way as my 3D bike, except in a single layer. To bring in the Glimmer Hot Foil Kit of the Month, I foiled the sentiment from this month’s kit over white paper using Pewter foil.
I added Golden Sunset Nuvo Glitter drops to all the flowers’ centers and set my bikes aside to dry to work on my card panel. I also added die-cut sentiments on the baskets. The one on the card is from the So Many Sentiments die set (an add-on to the Truckin Through the Seasons Club Kit). In order for it all to fit on a card, I decided to make an A6 card (4.5″ x 6.25″). I ink-blended a floor using Hickory Smoke Distress Oxide Ink and the background using Shaded Lilac Distress Oxide ink to bring back in more purple.
I sprayed my panel with a light mist of water and splattered it with white ink before adhering my bike to the card panel using foam adhesive for dimension. The foiled sentiment is also attached to the card using foam adhesive.
I hope you enjoyed these projects and that it inspires you! This bike is truly a must have! If you’re interested in buying or signing up for future kits, be sure to use the links below to get you to the direct links! Thanks so much for stopping by today!
