Hi, Friends!
I’m sharing another card today using the summer release from Pretty Pink Posh. Today, I’m using the Tropical Birds set and the Tropical Frames.

I stamped and colored my images using Copic markers (Birds: E01, RV42 RV25; Beak: E00, C3, C6, C8; Palm trees: YG06, G03, G19; Tree Trunk: E31, E55, E23). After coloring, I die-cut my images and added white gel highlights, then set them aside to work on the background.

On a white A2-sized panel, I created a circle mask for the sun, and masked off a horizontal line to separate the sky from the waterline and ink-blended with Distress Oxide Inks. For the sun, I used Mustard Seed; for the Sky, I used Tumbled Glass; for the water, I used a blend of Salty Ocean and Blueprint Sketch. I decided I wanted a floor for the flamingos to stand on, so I masked off another area and ink-blended with Vintage Photo. It looks more gray because of the blue underneath it, but that’s ok. It adds to the shadow of the scene.

Finally, I used the Tropical Frame die to cut the border out of vellum. I really enjoy doing this with frame dies because it adds a hint of color and interest, but doesn’t take too much away from the background and images since they can often be too busy. To finish my card, I stamped my sentiment with black ink.
I hope you enjoyed this card! I might be out of ideas for summer cards…lol – so we might go back to cute critters and flowers for the next few posts! I hope you’ll join me again very soon!

Omg love this card!! How did you get the vellum to stick. Vellum is so tricky to add to a card. Thanks!!

I used my ATG gun and ran it along the border only. I find it doesn’t show! Any dry adhesive should work. I think. And it’s important to use a good, thick vellum too. If you use liquid adhesive…that definitely shows.

Your Distress Oxide Ink blending and Copic coloring on this are fabulous!! I was wondering the same thing as Victoria on the vellum lol so thanks for the tips on “no-show” vellum adhesive. There really is only so many “summer” things you can do for cards but I love ’em while they last 🙂
