Altenew December 2019 Ink Release Blog Hop + Giveaway – Chrysanthemum

Hi, Friends!

Altenew is celebrating the release of new inks today! We’ve got three new ink sets in muted purples , blues, and oranges.

Fall Harvest: Butternut, Pumpkin Pie, Yellow Ochre, Sicilian Amber

Sugarplums: Pale Mauve, Amethyst, Grape Agate, Plum

Tranquility: Misty Morning, Cloudy Sky, Nimbus, Dark Night

I used two of the sets above for my card today using the Build-a-Flower Chrysanthemum set.

I first die-cut the slits on my flower to ensure I line things up well as I stamped my layers. My flowers are stamped with all four colors from the Sugarplums ink set. My leaves are stamped with the three darker colors from the Tranquility ink set.

To create my background, I die-cut the Watercolor Stripes Cover Die with white cardstock. To give the background a bit of color, I ink-blended Old Paper Distress Oxide Ink over the front of my top-folding card base. I spritzed it lightly with some water for interest, but much of it was covered by the large flowers and foliage in the end.

I stamped my sentiment on the bottom stripe of my die-cut panel and then arranged my flowers and leaves. The last thing I did was add some clear confetti sequins to embellish my card. I love these muted ink colors! It’s definitely different for me, but I think it will grow on me!

  1. Beautiful card! I’m curious what you meant about cutting the slits in the flowers to help you line the layers up better. I’ve never heard of that before…but am always happy to get tips for lining layers up better. How does it work?
