Hi, Friends!
Today marks a new Altenew Stamp/Die/Stencil/Ink release! Altenew is hosting a video blog hop. I don’t have a video today and am not a part of that blog hop, but I have two cards to share fusing the Courageous You set from the release.
Today, I’m sharing one stamp two ways with the Courageous You stamp set! They produce quite similar effects depending on the colors you choose. I’ve chosen similar shades of deep pinks for my cards so you can see the difference.
My first card uses the Courageous You Simple Coloring Stencil to color. The stencil covers the darker pink that you see on the card, so to give the outer edges some color, I first laid down a layer of light pink using and RV10 Copic marker. There are some areas – like the flower’s centers that didn’t have coverage, so I colored those with Copic markers as well (RV10, RV13, RV17, Y11, Y38).
Using the stencil, I ink-blended two shades of pink. First I blended with the lighter (Coral Berry) to cover the entire area of the stencil, then I added the darker shade (Ruby Red) to give the image more depth. The greens I used are Sweet Leaf and Hunter Green. To finish, I colored around the image with B0000, B000 to give it a soft blue glow. I stamped my sentiment and then splattered it with white ink to give it more interest.
My second card is watercolored using the Altenew Artist Watercolor Pan Set. I painted the flowers with Cherry Blossom paint; Green Meadows for the leaves; Fiery Sunset and Warm and Cozy for the flower center; and Crystal water for the blue edge.
My second card is a a 5″x7″ card because I wanted to show more of the image. After painting was finished and dry, I once more splattered it with white paint for interest. I stamped and embossed my sentiment and added it to my card using foam adhesive. To embellish my card and fill in the white space, I added some clear sequins.
Watercoloring definitely takes more patience and time and I was pleasantly surprised and happy with how the mask stencil could be used to color the image and still achieve depth. I think I’m sold on mask stencils! I hope you enjoyed both and are inspired to create!
Thank you all for stopping by today!
