Last week, Simon Says Stamp released a Limited Edition Beautiful Human Card Kit! The Fading Floral stencil is a beautiful stencil included in the kit. I used it during the reveal to stencil and foil the floral pattern over a burlap zipper pouch. It’s such a gorgeous stencil that I wanted to give it more color for another project.

The stencil is 4″ x 9″ and is perfect for a slimline design. On a 4″ x 8.5″ panel, I adhered the stencil and began by ink-blending the flowers. I masked off all the leaves to isolate just the flowers. I know it’s a lot of work to mask, but it’s so worth it! I used Lemon Chiffon Ink for the center, then blended Teeny Bikini from the outside in – giving it a gradient on each petal.

Next, I did the opposite by masking off the flowers and berries to ink-blend the foliage. I used Key Lime ink on the traditional style flowers, then Laurel Green inks on the rounded leaves. Then, I repeated the process for the berries and used Magnolia ink.

To give my inked panel lots of texture, I smooshed the Magnolia ink onto a media mat and added some water and splattered my panel. I also splattered the panel with white paint. While it was drying, I prepared my sentiment from the Thinking of You Sentiment Strips. I finished by embellishing my card with some sequins. Since the stenciling is a single layer, I think the shading of the inks, splatters and dimension with the sentiment and sequins really brings this card to life. I hope you agree!
