Did you see the exciting surprise from Tim Holtz and Simon Says Stamp yesterday? Die-cember 2023 proved to bring never-done-before products, including exclusive dies from Simon Says Stamp for some of Tim Holtz’s Stampers Anonymous sets. Dies are wonderful to have when creating and this month, the surprise is for the Love Notes Stamp.

As you can see, the Love Notes Dies allow me to create a background easily and the ability to give the rainbow hearts dimension. To create my card, I stamped the images using Distress Ink over Distress Watercolor Cardstock. Before stamping, I spritzed it with water to give it the watercolor look. Then I stamped again, applying ink at the bottom of the image only without adding water for a second or third impression to get darker color at the bottom of each heart.

While these images sat to dry, I ink-smooshed the background. I applied ink to my glassboard and spritzed it with water and used flimsy acetate/cellophane to grab the image and haphazardly applied it to slimline Distress Watercolor Cardstock panel. I didn’t apply heat because I wanted the colors to blend together as I worked from left to right.

Before applying the open teal heart, I stamped the sentiment. the larger hearts at the bottom are applied with really thin foam tape and the top hearts are adhered with thicker foam tape to give them varying heights. Finally, I added gold splatters to give the card more texture and definition.
