Simon Says Stamp – Morning Garden Floral Frame Shaker Card

Hello!

Today’s shaker card features the Morning Garden Floral Frame from the Simon Says Stamp Cheering For You release. It’s perfect for a shaker card so let’s talk about how this card came to be!

I die-cut the Morning Garden Floral Frame 5 times using thick cardstock. The top frame was masked so I could ink-blended the flowers and foliage without getting color on the white frame. I snipped the flowers and foliage from the other layers so that only the frame was left and stacked them with liquid adhesive to create a sturdy frame for the shaker window.

I loved making this card so much, that I replicated it for the Simon Says Stamp Blog yesterday. I’m attaching the video for you to enjoy:

On the back of the top frame, I adhered acetate with Red Line Tape to ensure it adheres well. Then, I added this shaker window to the stacked frames using more Red Line Tape. The Red Line Tape is SUPER tacky, so I used the It’s No Secret Tool to neutralize any adhesive that might be exposed inside the shaker frame. This prevents any shaker elements from sticking to the sides of the shaker frame.

For the background, I stamped the Old Letter stamp with Latte ink. I “stamped off” one time so that when I stamped the impression on my card panel, it could be more subtle. Then I trapped this ink with a layer of clear ink and clear embossing powder. This helps keep the integrity of the Latte letters and keeps it from smearing or blending into other colors that I ink-blend over it. This was one change I made in my card for the video. I wanted Old Letter to be more visible, so instead of “stamping off”, I used my microfiber cloth to dab off some of the ink in random places before stamping. It showed up much better this way.

I used residual ink from the ink-blending to add colors to the background panel. Then to give it texture, I added Distress Spritz in Wilted Violet, Picked Raspberry, and Fossilized Amber. It gives it such lovely texture and color! To finish, I embossed a sentiment from the Graceful Flowers set and die-cut it with a coordinating die. I ink-blended this a tad to give it some color so that it blends into the background better.
