Hello friends!

This year, we had two opportunities to view the Northern Lights here in the US. I was unable to see them clearly, but using my camera, I was able to capture a tad of color. I was really bummed because I wanted to see what others were posting on social media! When I saw this Wooden Cabin Embossing Folder, I knew right away that I wanted to make a colorful sky.

I embossed a white panel and began by ink-blending the sky with Distress Oxide inks. I worked with one ink at a time and went back to previous colors to fill in any gaps and to blend the colors together. Using Tumbled glass, I grabbed ink with a small blending brush and swiped down. I did three or 4 swipes down across the panel for each color and repeated this with Broken China, Evergreen Bough, and Seedless Preserves. When I was happy with the blend between these colors, I used Chipped Sapphire to ink-blened across the top and sides to add depth.

Everything else was colored with Copics with the exception of the snow at the bottom of the card.

Copics:
Reds:  R35, R37
Yellow:  Y00
Snow on Roof:  BG11, C1
Grays:  C1, C2, C4
Browns:  E30, E34, E37
Greens:  G24, G29

After coloring everything, I splattered the panel with white paint to give it snow. I used my brush and roughly painted snow on the tall evergreen trees too. To finish, I embossed a sentiment from the Poinsettia Swag set in silver over vellum for a soft look. This scene is just so peaceful and I wish I could live in that little cabin with northern lights dancing just outside!
