Hello, Everyone!!!
I’ve been MIA from the crafting world for 3 weeks now and am experiencing a bit of confusion! It’s a bit of withdrawal and a bit of creative block. I had such a hard time deciding what my first card should be. I stared at all my things for a quite a while before I decided to go with a holiday theme in order to be a part of the August Challenge at LiveLoveCards.com – which I am a member of. I don’t have any new holiday stamp sets – so I decided to use two stamp sets of Stampin’ Up! from last year’s holiday catalog, one of which I have never used.
I am currently a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator, but as I have mentioned in the past, I don’t have any customers and will probably be dropped – but I think I have enough on my wishlist from the NEW holiday catalog to stay an active demonstrator for another quarter ;). I’m stalling on an order because as some of you may know – moving of any sort is a pocket drainer! It’s been so overwhelming to say the least, but I think we’re settling down ok. I’m REALLY not looking forward to returning to my full time job!
So before we start, I thought I would show you my new craft space and mention how it came together.
This process was really painfully conflicting! When we moved back knowing there was an IKEA in town, I envisioned Alex drawer units everywhere in my craftroom – since this is the piece many crafters choose. After pricing everything – I found that this wasn’t an option for me – it would require too many pieces for me to achieve the look I wanted and it would’ve costed me a fortune. We went to IKEA 4 times before we we everything that worked!
I really wanted to have a center island as a working station, bout I didn’t have the space for that…so we went with a corner station as you see in the photo above. I ended up getting two Nordli 6-drawer dressers – building them so that the smaller units were towards the center for access to smaller tools. The desk top is created using a Linnmon Corner Table Top and two Linnmon Table Tops. There is some space behind the dressers, but I don’t mind – you can stabilize this with any table legs from Ikea and you can connect the table tops with mending braces from a hardware store. I also love the Raskog Utitlity Cart which I can roll away when not in use.
I’ve spent about 5 hours crafting and preparing this post – so I feel like I haven’t helped my husband at all today :(. He’s installed a water softener today – bless him!
Lets get to my holiday card now, shall we?
I’ve never used the Christmas Bauble set before – so I knew it was something I wanted to use soon. I stamped it on Neenah cardstock so that I could color it with Copics. I masked it off when I was done and stamped pine branches from the Ornamental Pines set. I sponged the background to add some color and finished off the card with some glossy accents.
Here is my video! I hope you enjoy it!

Oh, Caly, congratulations on your new craft room! I love it, and I think you’ll be very happy with what you have. It’s a great layout, and it will give you lots of room to move around. And your card is beautiful, and I love the colors of the ornament “hanging” from the pine bough! So glad to see you back! Hugs!
