I have coworker named Winny who loves bunnies. I’m only guessing her obsession with them since I’m only told this – I work from home so it’s difficult to know what some people in the office are really like, especially when they live on the West Coast and I’m in the Midwest. Some relationships are forged over conversation via Instant Messenger and that’s how I get to know everyone these days (or for the most of the past 3 years).
Winny lost a good high school friend suddenly yesterday. When she told me that, I knew I would be making a card for her. I got this My Favorite Things stamp set quite a while ago with her in mind, but kept pushing it back because there were other things I wanted to do – so it’s sad that this occasion would be the one to initiate me to make a card for her.
There is so much sadness in the world. My husband is a medical resident and comes home with stories everyday and you can tell he is worn from the day’s work. I pull up Facebook and Instagram and see sad stuff all the time. But I’m reminded how spreading kindness is so important – so after making this card, I also prepared/sent one to a little girl in New York who is burn victim and lost her entire family in an intentional fire. Safyre suffered severe burns and lost her right hand and left foot and all she wants for Christmas is to fill her Christmas tree card stand with Christmas cards. I don’t want to post a picture because it makes me sad to see how someone has flipped her world upside down.
(this card is from my last post)
If you want to share kindness with this sweet little girl, here is where to send Safyre’s Christmas cards:
P.O. Box 6126
Schenectady, NY 12306, USA
I hope these cards will bring both Winny and Safyre smiles and remind them of hope and love.
Big hugs to everyone! There are so many people with struggles…no matter how big or small and I wish everyone could find time to slow down and smile and remember to embrace the little moments that make life worth – while.
By the way – yesterday was also my husband’s birthday. It was a long and emotional day with all these things tugging at my heart…but here is the card I made him just to end this post with a bit of warmth. I stamped our family using a stamp set called Tandem Ride. I even made mine to have a baby bump…hehe. I have never made a card using colored pencils only so I thought I would do something a little different. Enjoy and have a wonderful day! Blessings!

Caly, I am so glad I looked at your blog after seeing your SCS gallery. I will send a card to that little girl. I am always looking for children and others in need, etc. to send them to. Do we just address it to her first name and then the address? Thanks! Marti
