Hello again!
Today is my neighbor and friend, Kerri’s birthday! I’ve been working for a few weeks now what I’m going to do for her 40th birthday. I’ve gotten a few new stamp sets and really wanted to use them. I started out with the Foxy Friends stamp set and Fox builder punch from Stampin’ Up!’s new catalog.
I put together a few foxes using the fox builder.
They’re super cute but at this point, I had not decided what I wanted to do yet. Then I started playing with the Foxy Friends stamp set.
Once I got all of this cut out – I KNEW I wanted to do a card-in-a-box. Ah! It’s been a LOOONNNG time since I’ve made one and I got really excited!
There are MANY templates on pinterest. Here’s the one I made for myself (please note that the height of the box should be 5.5 inches – not 6. Sorry for my typo! card-in-a-box-pop-up-template (click to view).
Here’s my card – It’s so cute! While I was putting it together – I decided that this card is not suitable for a 4oth birthday, but I knew exactly which direction I wanted it to go and who I wanted the recipient to be.
Adorable right?! And full of encouraging sentiments. I hope the recipient enjoys it! Now – how about that 40th card! I wanted to change it up a bit for more display space – so I looked for a tutorial on how to make a card-in-a-box card that sat on it’s side (aka – a rectangle card-in-a-box. For the card below – the box is made using a base that’s 4 1/4″ x 12″, scored at 2″, 5 1/2″, 7 1/2″, and 11″. Turn 90 degrees and score at 2″. The 2″ flap once you cut them down will be the top part of the card that folds down. For the inserts, cut 2 4 11/16″ x 1″ strips and score at 5/8″ from each end. If you’d like detailed video – here’s one I watched: https://www.pinterest.com/pin/239042692697550254/.
I had no idea what I was going to do for this card – so I went to my stamp stash and started pulling all things floral and butterflies. 😀 Here’s what I came up with! I hope you LOVE it as much as I do!!!
Don’t worry! As always – the supplies will be listed below. This was NOT as difficult as it seems. I felt that the Foxy Friends one above was more difficult! The gold on this card just speaks for itself so I didn’t feel the need to decorate the other flaps.
Kerri loves blush pink, tiffany blue and gold – so I tried my best to incorporate these colors. EEEK!!! I cannot WAIT to give this card to her!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY KERRI!
XOXO,
I have another card I did today that I’m excited to share later on this week – stay tuned!!!

Caly – Really love your style. The floral card is gorgeous! Love the color combination. You’ve mentioned your Scan-n-Cut before…do you really like using it? Any words of wisdom on the machine? Thanks for your input.

Hi Beth!!! Thanks for the wonderful comment on my card.
The scan n’ cut is great!!!! It’s so user friendly and most of all- STAMPER friendly. Unlike the Silhouette or the Cricut- it will scan your stamped images and cut them them without downloading into any software. I will never have to buy coordinating stamps again. The machine is a lot of money upfront but really saves you in the long run if you cut out your stamped images a lot. I also do a lot of vinyl cutting-it’s addicting! I’ve made lots of quotes for our walls as decor and even cut vinyl to heat transfer to clothes. The machine will cut lots of different materials! I have no regrets (even though it was a birthday gift) and nothing terrible to say about it. 😊
