This Land is Your Land – Splitcoaststampers Month 6

It’s about time I shared my last month’s work as a Splitcoaststamper dirty dozen design team member right?! I cannot believe that was 7 months ago!!! I’m such a slacker for not posting these sooner. This will be a longer one so I will dive into sharing the photos – the supply list will be at the end for these. The theme was “This Land is Your Land” and we could do anything that represents our culture/heritage, where we live, etc.

This first card is made using a Cherry Blossom set from Fiskars. I got this stamp set on Amazon when I first got into stamping and had never used it before so I decided to use it on this card to create a full background. I colored these blossoms with Copics, then added white dots at the center of the flowers to highlight. It was beautiful! It reminds me of the Lunar New Year – which is very much a part of my Vietnamese background.

I did a simple prayers sentiment and propped it up with some foam and added some glossy accent to make the word pop a little.

This second card is patriotic. You can’t do this theme without a card with Red, White & Blue! I used a stencil and brushed on color using Clarity Stencil brushes. You can do this with foam applicators too! The brushes allowed me to control the intensity of the color.

This card represents my hometown – Kansas City, Missouri. Did you know that next to Rome, Kansas City has the most fountains? It’s known as the city of fountains in the United States!

This mermaid card was so fun to make! I stamped and colored all the images, cut them out and then layered them over blue cardstock and velum. Actually – it’s the reason why I’m making myself post this today. I want to give this card to a friend for her birthday! hehe

How does this card apply to the theme? For me – it was a part of growing up to watch Disney movies and believe in magic! We all have, right? These mermaids remind me of my youth and my younger sister- this movie was her favorite!

This orchid in a pot was so easy to stamp – Hero Arts kind of makes it fool-proof with their layering sets. I made this card a 4-bar sized card, which frames this orchid perfectly and makes the perfect note card.

Last but not least…I wanted to make a card to display the beauty of our mountains! I have not been to Colorado – but I’ve seen amazing photos from friends who travel all over and I just dream of standing in their shoes! This card is simple stamping of the trees and layering of die cut pieces.
