Week 1 of the 30 Day Coloring Challenge

Hi Everyone!

I’m so proud of myself for actively participating in Kathy Racoosin’s 30 day coloring challenge.  I honestly had NO intent of making a card for each day – but I can’t stop at just coloring.  I have trouble with leaving things unfinished.  So I made a card every day this week.  If you missed my first card – check it out on my previous post.  This post will highlight the 6 cards I made this past week – without a list of supplies but I’ll talk a little about each and at least give you a link to the direct manufacturer for the stamp sets used!

Day #2: You’re Stinkin’ Cute

Stinkin Cute 1

So….the only thing colored here is that cute little skunk.  This stamp set is by Lawn Fawn and you can check it out HERE. I used Copics and let me just tell you.  I LOVE Copics, but blacks and reds scare me…a lot. The potential for bleeding gives me anxiety while coloring. I used dark grays and black here and it turned out great but it still made me nervous.

Day #3:  Party Animal

Giraffe Baby

I’m a little confused about the name of this stamp set – because this giraffe is too cute and innocent looking to be a party animal.  It is adorable none-the-less!  The set is by WPlus9 and you can view the item HERE.  I colored this again with Copics and added some distress ink to the background.  This was my most boring card….dum dum dum…..

Day #4 Thanks a Buschel

Bushel of Apples 1

Lawn Fawn stamps make me happy. You can view this one HERE. These stamp sets are smaller and the price point is wonderful.  I colored this with Copics.  Added some distress ink in the background.  You’re going to start noticing a trend here on my favorite card making supplies ;).

Day #5:  Happy Mail

Sending Love and Hugs 1

I don’t know what took so long for me to need THIS Mama Elephant Incoming Mail stamp set in my life. A small stamp set is awesome but a larger stamp set with a bunch of little images scare me? But this card just proved me wrong….it has been a favorite this week.  By the way – because these images are smaller – most of my cards are 4 bar sized cards (3.5″ x 4 7/8″).  I’m falling in love with this size…seriously.  Takes out so much brainwork for me to not have to fill in white space!

Day #6:  Roses for You

Heart Bouquet

I got sweet text from a neighbor this week who asked me to make a card for his wife – just because.  Isn’t that sweet? So I knew THIS Roses for You stamp set by Simon Says Stamp would be perfect.  I tried hard to be like Kathy here – she loves her Uniball Signo White Gel Pen.  I have a Sakura Gelly Roll pen and it serves the same function – but it truly transforms images and adds depth to your coloring!

Day #7: Fairy Friends

Fairy Friends 1

Another adorable Lawn Fawn set that you can view HERE. I changed it up this time and used my Derwent Inktense watercolor pencils.  I haven’t used them in so long!  As I was fussy cutting these images, the flowers and fairy wings curled and it gave me an idea to double stamp and layer them.  You can’t tell too well from the picture above, but the wings and flowers actually are not adhered to the card front.  They are stamped underneath and colored as well to match the “floating” image above them.

I hope you enjoyed these cards.  I’ll be back next week to share 7 more cards.  On Monday – I have a surprise for you all (which may be more of a tease and I’m sorry about that, but it’s exciting for me)!  Stay tuned!

  1. Caly, these are darling, and I do LOVE your coloring! Such sweet cards, and how dear for your neighbor to have you make a “love” card for his wife for no special reason. I absolutely love that giraffe and think it’s a perfect baby card. And the apples are fabulous along with that sweet panda. Love them all, sweet friend…and good for you for doing this challenge!! Hugs and love! xoxo
