Rainbows are so much fun and I decided I would make some rainbow-themed cards for the Lil’ Inker Designs April Release.
My first card features the Dotted Chevron Cover Up Die.
It’s pretty straight forward – I sponged the background using distress oxide inks (Picked Raspberry, Fossilized Amber, Cracked Pistachio, Mermaid Lagoon, Wilted Violet) and then cut out the cover-up die and used some foam tape to adhere the top panel over the rainbow background. The Hello Die is also from this wonderful April Release. I die cut the word using black card stock and did the halo using vellum.
This Hello Word Die Set goes with the Brushed Plaid Stamp Set.
You can create an entire background, but I decided to accent just a portion of it on this card:
I stamped the big stamp on blue paper, then added lines in a darker blue and pink and added the Hello Word Die with a sentiment strip from the same stamp set.
My third card features the Have a Nice Day stamp set. I stamped the image using a light ink and used my prismacolor pencils to color over the stamped image a section at a time to create the rainbow or words.
For the rest of the images, I used my Stardust Sakura Gelly Roll pens. They have shimmer in them and it was easier for me to achieve the fine lines and dots.

Oh, Caly, I love ALL your cards! You are so clever, and I really love the Cover Up Die with the sponged background with the gorgeous “hello” die. Just love that plaid set with the extra plaid lines to make other colors. Clever idea to do no-line coloring with your pencils. Beautifully done! Caly- congratulations on joining the team! Great idea with the rainbow to back up the dotted chevron- cut cover! And what a great reminder that even when we have a full background stamp, we can make use of it for an accent piece and stretch its use. Clever, and I love the extra touch of the stitching.
