Hi Friends!
I’ve made a Halloween card to share today. There were so many cute products with the Hello Bluebird August Release that I felt I needed to use them before Halloween quickly approaches and is behind us! Before we know it…Christmas will be here!
This Halloween Party set is my favorite set from the release and sadly, I wasn’t assigned to use it so I couldn’t just let it sit in my stash! I recently got the Arteza Real Brush Pens and decided to use them on this card. I stamped the images using Versafine Onyx Black Ink – which is watercolor-friendly. I know this is a pigment ink but it dries quickly! By the time I had selected a few colors, it was ready to go. You can apply the color to a palette and apply color to your images with a brush for more control, but I applied the color directly to the images in areas I wanted more depth, then used a damp watercolor brush to pull the color out.
The Arteza brush pens just like Zig brush pens. There are only a few differences that stand out to me: The brushes are a bit bigger and the colors aren’t as bright as the Zig brush pens – which is kind of a plus for me. I have only used Zig brush pens to color flowers – so that’s another reason I decided to use the Arteza brush pens for these critters.
I also used a set called Halloween Fun – but the only image I used is the broom. The sentiment is from the Spooky Script set. Finally, the background is created using the Country Gingham background stamp. I mixed a lot of products this time – not something I usually do but I was inspired by my other Hello Bluebird design team friends. SO MUCH TALENT – I’m not exaggerating!
I stamped the background using Tiki Torch from Catherine Pooler. It was a little bright for me – so I decided to adhere vellum to the frame to mute the color and now it looks more peach, which I think is really pretty! Before adhering all the pieces down, I stamped the sentiment on the vellum using StazOn Jet Black ink. Once all the images were glued down, I finished off the card by adding glossy accents over the light bulbs and the bunny’s lantern.
I really hope you enjoyed this card! I had fun making it (despite being nervous about using a medium I’ve never used before). I think coloring is always the hardest part and creating the scene is the best part! Have a fabulous day!
XOXO,
