I was a part of the Hero Art’s My Monthly Hero Blog Hop last week and got some fun products from them and couldn’t resist making more cards.  This is a really simple one using the new Stacking Snowflakes.  What’s great about these though – only two layers.  I like that it’s simple but you can still give them interest by stamping or embossing with two different colors.  My other two cards have been really Christmas-y with blue, so I opted for pink on this card.

The background panel is first ink-blended with Distress Oxide inks in Spun Sugar, Worn Lipstick, and abandoned Coral.  When I ink-blend, I like to start with the lightest color first – you can always add deeper shades, but you can’t take them away!

After ink-blending, I sprayed some water splatters on it and let it absorb for a few seconds before dabbing up the excess water.  I have to create in spurts – because family and full time job – so I ink-blended this and gave it plenty of time to saturate the paper and dry before I started embossing over it.

I heat embossed the first layer and sentiment with opaque white embossing powder, and the second with silver pearl embossing powder.  It kind of takes on the pink and reflects it and you can see it really well in the photos above.  To finish off the card, I used up the pretty dew drops.  You can always emboss first and then ink-blend – that’s the beauty of emboss-resist!
