Welcome back for Day 2 of the Lil’ Inker Designs October Release Blog Hop! Today, I’m sharing some holiday cards using lots of embossing!
My first card is a shaker card using the new Mitten die set, which coordinates with the Ready, Set, Snow stamp set. I began by die cutting the mitten on a card panel. I set the negative aside and ink blended the mitten with Candied Apple Distress Oxide ink. I added some water droplets when I was done and filled the shaker portion with a sequin mix that consists of white snowflakes and silver sequins. I also added some small clear cupped sequins as well.
I ink-blended the background (negative from the mitten) using Peacock Feathers and Mermaid Lagoon Distress Oxide Inks. I added water droplets for added interest and then used the snowflake stamps from the Ready, Set, Snow stamp set to emboss white snowflakes over the blended background. The sentiment is also from this stamp set and I love the font! I simple embossed using white over black cardstock.
For my second card, I used the Merry Ornaments stamp set. I could’ve created the card using a variety of inks but I decided to emboss the entire thing to give it sheen and shine. I had envisioned a red ornament over black cardstock, but having tried that, the red didn’t show up too well on black cardstock, so I played and ended up with two cards.
I started by embossing the round part of the ornament first – in red over white cardstock and gold glitter over black cardstock. Then I used gold embossing powder on all the other accents. The black panel has white highlights – which is also embossed with embossing powder.
This white is a classic feel for me, but I’m also glad I tried it over black cardstock also.
It’s really hard to capture a good image of gold embossing powder (or glitter cardstock, for that matter) – but it’s gorgeous!
