Hi, Friends!
It’s been a while since I’ve shared a card for Hello Bluebird – so I’ve made a fun one to share today! I’m really enjoying the longer cards for sceneries that have lots of little images like in the North Pole Littles set. I made a card in a box card using this set for the release last month. If you missed, you can view it HERE. I felt a little limited with an A2-sized card, so I’m glad I could fill this larger (4″ x 8.5″) card to create this Christmas Eve card. I say Christmas Eve because it looks like Santa is leaving the North Pole at Dusk.
I started by stamping the images on white cardstock and using a Copic-friendly ink. I stamped all the images I thought I’d want to use (stamping 2 more deer later when I decided I wanted Santa in the air) and colored them with Copic markers.
E41, E50, E30, E51, E31, E34, E35 browns
C0, C2, C5 grays
YG11, G02, BG11, BG34 greens
R20, R22, R05, R29 pinks/reds
B01, B24, V12, V15 blues/violets
The gold on Santa’s sleigh is done with Wink of Luna – Gold. Unlike the Wink of Stella, these pens/inks are opague in color ;).
After coloring, I die-cut the images and add white gel pens on them for some added interest. In addition to that, I also added some red Nuvo drops to the head reindeer’s nose and glitter to the snow on the north pole using a clear lacquer (glossy accents).
To create the background, I ink-blended the background using Distress Oxide Inks. My friend, Leanne creates gorgeous aqua/teal backgrounds and told me she uses Tumbled Glass and Cracked Pistachio – so I tried it today and LOVE it! I added some contrast with Mermaid lagoon around the sides and top. I then added some water droplets and splatted some white ink for snow. I then die cut a hillside using the Hill and Dale die and again using clear lacquer, I added a fine iridescent glitter.
For some dimension, I adhered the hill to the card front using foam adhesive. I also used foam adhesive on the Santa and his deer. I also added some gold thread, connecting the deer to Santa. The rest of the images are glued directly to the hill and if it overhung, I added foam tape to the backside (top of the North Pole sing). The sentiment is simply stamped on black cardstock and embossed using white embossing powder.
I surely hope you enjoyed this card – it’s definitely one of my favorites! Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a wonderful week!
XOXO,
