Welcome to the first My Monthly Hero Blog Hop of 2019! This month’s set is super sweet and makes me excited for spring weather (which only feels like it lasts 3 weeks out of year sometimes, here in Kansas City).

Todays card is my representation of a sweet flower shop storefront. Two quick things about me – I love to bake and I love arranging flowers. If I ever retire, I’d love to working in either a bakery or floral shop – so this card was fun for me!

I created this card by stamping the store front on an A2 card panel and the accessory images on a separate piece of paper to color and die-cut for layering. Copic colors used: R22, R05 (bike and balloons) RV11, R83, R85 (awning), V01, V15 (flowers), E50, E30, E31, E55 (awning, storefront), C2, C5 (bike), G00, G14 (foliage), E15, E99 (terra cotta planter), B000 (window).

After coloring everything, I used a VersaMarker (Versamark pen) to color in the window front so I could apply a layer of clear embossing powder over the area to give it a glossy look. I could’ve used glossy accents – but you know what it’s like waiting for that to dry! Then I finished up the card by adding all the images and the sentiment strip, propping some up on 3M foam tape for dimension, and adding it to a mauve cardstock for added interest.
