Hi there!
I’m really excited about today’s card because I really PLAYED while making this card. I used a lot of mediums, colored, and die-cut. It’s elaborate, I’m sorry about that. Some people may think it’s too complicated to duplicate, but I really encourage you try it sometime – I really think that if I can take the time to do this – so can you! Let’s start talking about this WILD card that I made!
I used the Jungle Littles stamp set today to stamp and color using Copic markers (R20, R11, R83, R85, W0, W3, C0, C1, C3, C4, Y02, Y15, E50, E34, E31, E34, E41, E23, E25, G21, G24, YG05, G14, G19). After coloring, I die-cut the images. I added white gel highlights to the images and set them aside to work on the Tropical Foliage.
Using a blank A2-sized panel of Canson XL Watercolor cardstock, I did a heavy water wash and added different hues of green Daniel Smith Watercolor to it. I used my heat tool to dry the panel quickly and used the Tropical Foliage die to die cut all the foliage. I often forget, but I reached under my desk for a box to place my die-cut images in to splatter on white paint (I often do it on my media mat and get paint splatters everywhere – so the box is handy). As before, I set these elements aside to work on the next part of my card.
Next, I created the background by blending Distress Oxide Inks on a plain white card panel. I used Bundled Sage and Pine Needle Inks. Once blended, I used my Distress Sprayer to spray some water droplets on the panel for extra interest. Typically…I don’t have more that 2-3 elements on my cards (ink-blending, copic-coloring, some die-cut layers), but on this one, there’s one more – birch trees!
I die-cut the Birch Trees on white cardstock and added color using Copic Markers. I also used the leaf dies from this same die set to cut out leaves using extra green watercolored paper from when I die cut the tropical foliage (waste not!)
Finally, it was time to assemble! I started first by adhering the birch trees to the ink-blended panel. Then I added the little watercolored leaves, jungle vines, and tropical foliage. Where there was lots of layers, I used foam adhesive to balance things out. Then I adhered the sweet animals to the card in various areas and trimmed the card down to mat an A2-sized card panel. For the sentiment, I stamped and embossed over black cardstock and tucked one end behind the foliage.
XOXO,
