Hi Friends!
I’m so excited to share my project for March My Monthly Hero Kit with you! I’ve had this idea in my head for at least two weeks now and I’ve finally had some to bring it to life!

This month’s kit if full of fin-tastic stamps and dies and how cool is this aquarium die?!?! I LOVE to add color to detailed dies with Copic markers and though this is no exception to create my colorful aquarium. I also colored a small strip of brown to create an aquarium floor, colored and dotted with Copic markers for a sand-like texture.

This month’s kit comes with some reactive ink! I used a blending brush to apply a light layer of ink. I used a blending dauber and it was far too intense for me so the blending brush was perfect for this project. After inking, I splattered the panel with some water droplets and let me tell you – it produces even more prominent spots than Distress inks. I as pleasantly surprised! The kit also comes with white reactive ink and I also mixed that with water to produce the smaller splatters with a brush.

Although it’s hard to tell, I created a shaker by adding acetate to my aquarium die. I stamped the fish, sea horses and some star fish using a Ombre Light to Dark Peach Ink, Ombre Pink to Red Ink, and Soft Apricot Ink. I stamped the sentiment using Intense Black ink and I added some green and blue droplets, which are included in this month’s kit. To fill the shaker, I used Seashore Sequins – which turned out to be perfect. Then I added foam adhesive to outer edges of the aquarium to seal the shaker components.
I hope you enjoyed this project! Be sure to hop along and leave a comment below for your chance to win a kit! The kit is available for a limited time only – once it’s gone, it’s gone! Kits begin shipping from Hero Arts on Friday, March 8th. You can also subscribe to receive the kit monthly and never miss one!

Love your card and definitely am intrigued by the reactive inks after reading that they react to water better than Distress Inks!

Such a fun and colorful card. The aquarium die really lends itself to making shaker cards. Love the sea shell sequins you found for the shaker. Thanks for the tip about using a blending brush to apply the “water”. I just got some and am looking forward to playing with them. Interesting that this ink is even more reactive than distress inks. More fun to play with!
