My Favorite Things October 2019 Vault Release – Toasty Greetings

Hi, Friends!

We are sharing another day of the MFT Vault release today! MFT has pulled another oldie but goodie to share with you and today, I’m using the Toasty Greetings set along with the Merry Frame die to create a fun shaker card with you.

I stamped and colored my images with Copic markers, giving my images light from the fire. This is a new to me technique and is easier than it looks! Just add yellow/orange around the outer edge of the image closest to the fire. It was fun to try and I’m glad I did!

Copic colors used:
Reds:  R05, R29, R20
Blues:  B02, B14, B16
Teals:  BG32. BG57
Purples:  V01, V04
Yellows/Oranges:  Y11, Y19, YR18
Browns:  E31, E23, E27
Grays:  C0, C2, C4, C6, C8

After coloring, I die-cut my images and set them aside to work on the background. I ink-blended directly on the cardbase. Before folding the 5.5″ by 8″ cardstock to create my cardbase, I used purple tape to mask off at the 4.25″ line and ink-blended my background using Mustard Seed Distress Oxide Ink in the center for the fire’s glow, then Peacock Feathers around the outer and upper edges, then blended in the enter and bottom with Cracked Pistashcio.

I then splattered some white acrylic paint on my panel, pulled back my purple tape and set that aside to dry and to die cut my Merry Frame. The frame is simply cut in white. To create the shaker, I added double sided adhesive all around the back of the frame to adhere a sheet of clear acetate, then foam adhesive over that to create a shaker pocket. I folded my ink-blended cardbase, then added snowflakes and clear confetti for the shaker portion before securing the frame over it to create/enclose my shaker. The last thing I did was adhere my images over the acetate. Then I embossed the word “everything” from the Bitty Holiday Wishes stamp set to coordinate with the Merry frame.

I sure hope you enjoyed today’s project! Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a blessed day!

  1. Great card. I like how you matched the black background for the word “everything” against the Merry white border. Really makes it pop and such a great sentiment.
