It’s a Fawny Holiday Week on the Lawn Fawn Blog. I’m so excited to be a part of it and have created a festive holiday rooftop scene to share with you! My scene today is on a slimline card that measures 3.75” x 8.25”. I wanted 3 deer on my card and they only way I felt I could make them all fit was to create a longer chimney to lengthen the rooftop area.

I started by stamping images from the Ho-Ho-Holidays stamp set and colored them with Copic markers.  After coloring, I die-cut and add white gel highlights to the images and set them aside to work on the next step.

Yellows:  Y00, Y11, Y15, YR23
Grays:  C0, C3, C5, C8
Reds:  R20, R32, R08, R14, R46
Browns:  E40, E42, E43, E21, E30, E31, E33, E37, E47

Next I created my background by ink-blended with Salty Ocean, Blueprint Sketch, and Black Soot Distress Oxide Inks.  After ink-blended the two blue colors to meet at the center, I added Black Soot to darken the Blueprint Sketch portion.  To add to the night sky, I sprayed some water droplets onto the panel and dried it with a paper towel.  To intensify the sky with stars, I added splatters of white ink.

To create my rooftop, I die-cut the Rooftop Border with Fog cardstock.  To give the layers some dimension, I added some Black Soot ink by brushing the color on with a blending brush.  After adhering it all together, added clear adhesive to the scalloped shingles and droopy snowfall to the top of the rooftop border, I covered the adhesive with Prisma Glitter.  It mimics a subtle layer of snow and I love how it shines! 

I die-cut the chimney portion three times to stack them for length in white cardstock and colored them with Copic markers (R56, R39, R89, C3).  The very top portion is die-cut with Pixie Dust Sparkle cardstock.  Then to give the rooftop scene one more element of interest, I added a Mini String of Lights.  I die-cut the string of lights in white and colored the cardstock with G28 to make the wire green and die-cut the bulbs using Holiday Sparkle cardstock in green, red and gold.

Once I had all my pieces prepared it was time to construct my card – this is my favorite part!  I first adhered down my chimney after laying it and my rooftop down to center over my card panel.  I added my string of lights on top of my rooftop border and trimmed the excess off the edges.  Then I applied my rooftop with foam adhesive for dimension.  The reindeer images and harnesses were adhered together before adhering over the rooftop with foam adhesive, then Santa’s sleigh and then the rest of the elements.  After adding an embossed sentiment, I also added some red glitter to Rudolph’s nose.
