My Favorite Things – Wednesday Sketch Challenge #463 – Happy Pawlidays

It’s time for another MFT Stamps Wednesday Sketch Challenge! Sometimes, I can’t believe how quickly the week passes! This week’s sketch is super simple so I hope you’ll play along!

I love the simple focused element on this sketch. I know it’s up for interpretation, but to me, that looks like an ornament! I was pretty literal and die-cut a circle and chose and image to fit inside it. I’m using the Happy Pawlidays set along with the Inside Out Stitched Circle STAX for my card today.

I colored my images with Copic markers, then added some white gel highlights over the image. Then for some shine, I added glossy accents over the light bulbs and some Nuvo Glitter in White Blizzard over the white areas of the Santa hat.

Grays: C0, C1, C3, C5, C7
Browns: E31, E33, E35, E39
Reds: R22, R27, R39
Blush: R20
Yellows: Y11, Y15
Greens: YG07, YG09
Blues: B14, B18

For my background, I started with a light blue cardstock (Sno Cone). Then I used Peacock Feathers Distress Oxide ink to ink-blend around the space where I wanted my ornament – filling out the rest of the card panel with ink. To add depth, I added Mermaid Lagoon around the outer edges also. I then splattered my panel with white ink to give it some extra interest.

I tied a red bow and adhered it to my round colored ornament using a little glue dot. I then added foam adhesive to the backside and added some silver thread to create the ornament string – using the foam adhesive to hold it in place before centering it and adding it to my ink-blended card panel. The final step was stamping my sentiment in Tropical Teal dye ink over white cardstock, trimming and adding it to my card over the ornament using foam adhesive.
