My Favorite Things – Wednesday Sketch Challenge #488 – Magical Dragons

Hi, Friends!

Wednesdays are always fun for me because I really do get challenged with sketches. I’ll be the first to admit that I flipped through my MFT bin 3 times before deciding on how I should interpret today’s card. I spent more time doing that then actually making the card!

I used the Magical Friends set to color my dragon as the focal point and colored two clouds to represent the smaller circles on the sketch. For the larger round element, I created a moon using the Circle Extraordinaire stencil.

I colored my images with Copic markers before ink-blending my night sky. I wanted the moon to have a soft purple glow so I used Victorian Velvet, Seedless Preserves, Faded Jeans, and Blueprint Sketch Distress Oxide Inks. For the slanted element, I die-cut a cloud edge from the Stitched Cloud Edges Die-namics.

After masking and ink-blending, I placed my circle mask over the moon and splattered the night sky with water and white paint. Then I attached my cloud and dragon images with foam adhesive for dimension.

Copic Markers Used:
Gray:  N0, N1, N3
Pinks:  RV11, RV13, R85
Skin:  R20, E00, E53, E11
Hair:  YR23, YR24, E35
Purple:  BV01, BV02, BV04, BV08
Teal:  BG70, BG72, BG75, BG78
