Hey Friends!

I’m so excited to share today’s cards with you. I worked extra hard on them and love how they turned out and I hope you’ll like them too! I used the My Favorite Things Holly Jolly Cardinals to create a fun winter/holiday card.

I was inspired by Laura Bassen (@laurafadora) after seeing a rainbow card she made with just the birdie facing the left. Since I was die-cutting, I decided I would die-cut a bunch in rainbow colors too. A lot of the pieces die-cut pieces for both birds so I went ahead and made both birds for my card as well. Oh my…I can’t tell you how many tiny pieces I die-cut – but it was worth it in the end!

After I finished die-cutting both cardinals in each color, I began piecing them together. To add to them, I added Unicorn Dust to the hats using glossy accents as the adhesive. Then I added white gel highlights and added some pink to their bellies and cheeks using Copic markers (R00, R01).

I ink-blended the background using the Rolling Clouds Stencil in rainbow colors as well, then staggered my cardinals going downward. Since they are one of each color, I was able to replicate the card with the different birds with not much difference. The sentiment is stamped and embossed from the Bitty Holiday Wishes stamp set.

Confession and warning – these birdies are adorable and if you decided to die-cut a bunch like I did, you’ll need to be patient. It took me a lot of time to die-cut and piece them together. I tend to be a perfectionist and spend too much time doing things because I have the TV going and have distractions with kids (probably contributed to the length of time it took). I do love how they turned out and I’m so happy I did it! I hope they inspire you! Thanks so much for stopping by today!
