Simon Says Stamp has just launched their December Release! To kick off the release, I’m sharing a simple faux-watercolor card using the Cosmo Flowers Stencil!
I know it may not look it, but this look is super easy to create! I taped my watercolor cardstock to my stencil from the backside and selected a few colors from my Karin marker stash (168 Rose Pink, 200 Skin 1, 552 Ochre).
I dabbed the areas with color for the flower centers. Then for the petals, I started with the darker pink and flicked about 1/4″ of color closest to the centers and then added the lighter pink about halfway out. With the stencil still in place, I used my Distress Sprayer to spray a mist over the entire thing and let the colors move on their own. After about 30 seconds, I lifted the stencil and dried it with my heat tool.
I splattered my panel with gold and black paint to give it interest and as it dried, I die-cut my sentiment using the new CZ Just Because die. I die-cut the halo with vellum and then die-cut 4 layers from white cardstock to stack them together. To give it some color, I did a light wash of ombre color using the two pinks I used on the watercolor panel.
