Hi Friends!

We’re celebrating the Hello Beautiful release on Instagram with an IG Hop! I always blog my cards so I wanted to be sure to document it here as well. I watercolored a set called Lavender Garden and it’s a gorgeous set – though I didn’t use the lavender sprigs. I like watercoloring more open flowers and thought maybe the poppies were a better choice to showcase the set – but it’s nice to have options!

It’s weird to say – but I’ve never watercolored inanimate object before. I’ve only watercolored florals – I don’t know why watercoloring critters seems intimidating. Now that I’ve watercolored a watering can, it doesn’t seem so bad! I stamped with a light ink and watercolored with Daniel Smith Watercolors.

I used Permanent Violet and Payne’s Gray for the flowers, Hooker’s green for the foliage, and Shadow Violet for the watering can (it’s gray, but has a purple tint to it). I added details back into the floral centers using a black writing pen. It really gives it more interest and depth. For the background, I used Payne’s Gray to draw a grounding, then added a blue background above using heavily watered down French Ultramarine Blue watercolor.

I attached my images, then splattered it with white and black paint before attaching my embossed sentiment. I adhered everything with foam adhesive to give it lots of dimension before embellishing with some iridescent sequins.
