Simon Says Stamp – July 2021 Card Kit – Garden Greetings

Hi, Friends!

The July 2021 Simon Says Stamp Card Kit is here and there are so many new things that I love in this kit! Simon Says Stamp is debuting their new Dot Runner & Refills in addition to the usual 6″ x 8″ stamp, die, patterned paper, envelopes and cardstock! In addition, there is a new 3D embossing folder! I love the new Mesh Bags and you get one in this kit too!

I created two cards today using the kit’s contents. On both cards, I used the Garden Greetings stamp set, the Blossom Field Embossing Folder, and the Big Scripty Hugs Die.

For my first card, I embossed Cotton Candy cardstock using the Blossom Field Embossing Folder. Before closing the folder over the cardstock, I used my Worn Lipstick Distress Oxide pad to add color to the de-bossed side of the folder. The ink gets transferred onto the cardstock so well, I only had to do it once. I used white pigment ink to blend over the embossed/raised areas to make them stand out more.

I used the Big Scripty Hugs Die for the sentiment and added a sub-sentiment from the Garden Greetings stamp set.

For my second card, I embossed the wreath stamp from the Garden Greetings stamp set. I colored the image with Copic markers (RV21, RV25, Y11, G21, G28, YG06, YG09). When done, I embossed this with the Blossom Field Embossing Folder.

I trimmed the sides and adhered my embossed/colored panel over Smoke cardstock – also in the kit! My sentiment is die-cut from black cardstock. I layered 4 “hugs” for dimension before adhering them to the center of my wreath.

I finished both cards by adding some clear sequins from the Orca Sequin Mix from the kit. I hope you like them!

  1. On the card where you used worn lipstick on the embossing folder, how did you apply the white pigment ink to the raised portions? Love all your cards.

    1. Thanks, Sally!! I applied the Worn Lipstick to the embossing folder before running it through the die-cutting machine. So the white you see is the white cardstock.

      1. Thanks for your quick answer. I understand about the worn lipstick, but you also said you applied white ink to the raised image to make it stand out. I wondered what you applied it with.

      2. Oh, I’m sorry I misunderstood. I used finger dauber. It’s smaller and easier to apply over the intricate design.
