I love the Lovely Layers dies from Honey Bee Stamps. They recently released the Anemone dies and I just had to have them. This was released as a winter item, but the colors I chose could really be used year round. I appreciate that it can be used outside of the holidays, don’t you?

To make today’s card, I die-cut the parts from the Anemone dies using Simon Says Stamp cardstock and used a coordinating ink to ink-blend the layers for more shadow and effect.

SSS Inks:  Holly Hock, Doll Pink, Clementine, Fern, Jellybean
SSS Cardstock:  Cotton Candy, Doll Pink, Bright Yellow, Lemon Chiffon, Green Apple, Green Leaf

I used some glossy accents and Unicorn Dust for the flower centers to add shimmer to the “stamen” on the flowers and propped the centers up with foam adhesive. I also took the time to curl the petals with my fingers to give the petals more dimension and life.

For the background, I used the Barn Wood Planks dies to create a paneled background. I ink-blended a sheet of cardstock using Frayed Burlap and Weathered Wood, lightly covering it in a random pattern before die-cutting. Then, I used a light wash of white paint to brush a single layer across the top. It dries quickly and once ready, I die-cut the Barn Wood Planks to stagger like tiles down an A2-sized card panel. When done, I cut the panel down to matte my cardbase (1/4″ all around).

I finished today’s card by die-cutting and embossing the sentiment using the Bitty Buzzwords stamp and die set. I layered three layers of the word hug in white before topping it with gold glitter cardstock. These stacked layers are then adhered to a vellum halo. I attached both sentiment elements to my card using adhesive in some areas and others, just liquid adhesive where needed to secure it in placce.
