The Simon Says Stamp Happy and Joyful Release came with lots of beautiful floral stamp sets illustrated by my friend, Emily Midgett. Today, I’m sharing a card using the Celebrate Rose Corner set.
I embossed my image using gold embossing powder today for some quick watercoloring. QUICKER, anyway. Embossing allows me to drop in color without worrying about it bleeding outside the lines because the embossed lines form a wall for the the color and pigment.
I used Daniel Smith Watercolors for today’s card and only used 4 colors. I almost always just use one color for the flowers. Emily watercolors with beautiful blends of pigment. I just never think to blend colors or add multiple layers. I don’t know what I’m doing, I guess! 😅. After coloring the image, instead of die-cutting with the coordinating die, I decided to leave it and do a light wash of green around the edges of the image to give it more interest.
The Celebrate Rose Corner set comes with wonderful sentiments, but I wanted a more flourished font for this birthday card so I embossed it in the same gold as the image using the Beautiful Friend stamp set.
