Altenew January 2023 Marvelous Monthly Series Release Blog Hop + Giveaway ($300 in Total Prizes!)

Welcome to another Marvelous Monthly Series Release! Check out the Altenew Blog where this blog hop begins! Today’s card uses the new Craft-A-Flower – Orchids! I’ve said this before in previous posts, but orchids are my favorite! I have a several of them and they bloom and re-bloom throughout the year. For today’s card, I decided to ink-blend the die-cuts.

I die-cut all the pieces from this die-set with white cardstock and ink-blended them with dye inks to give them color. I ink-blended the main petals with yellow on the edges and then pink towards the center and out to meet the yellow. For the flower centers, I ink-blended a darker pink and red.

After assembling all the orchids, I worked on the orchid stem. Once again, I die-cut using white cardstock and ink-blended with dye ink to add a green gradient to the stem. I used liquid adhesive and adhered my flowers to my stem and then set it aside to work on the background.

I used fog cardstock and ink-blended gray ink across the upper right hand corner. Next, I added some bokeh using white pigment ink and the Bokeh Lights stencil from Simon Says Stamp. It’s very subtle against the gray cardstock. To give it all a bit more texture, I splattered with white, black, and gold paint. I finished with a sentiment from the Sweet Sentiments die set.
