Tim Holtz just released 3 additional Watercolor Pencil sets to complete the collection of 72 colors! Sets 1, 2, and 3 were previously released and they were a hit! Be sure to check out sets 4, 5, and 6 now at Simon Says Stamp!

I used individual watercolor pencils from all three sets to watercolor the images from the Bold Botanicals set. I stamped over Distress Watercolor Cardstock and heat embossed with clear embossing folder before watercoloring. You can apply the Distress Watercolor Pencils directly over the paper and add water, or you can wet the Watercolor Pencils and transfer that wet pigment to a brush. I did it both ways and both worked well! Some people even shave the watercolor pencils down and wet it to make a watercolor palette!

My daughter (who is 7) says this purple one is her favorite. I think all four flowers on this stamp set are beautiful! I used Wilted Violet on it with some Gathered Twigs and Squeezed Lemonade for the center. It’s paired with the Reptile Embossing Folder.

The cosmo above uses Abandoned Coral. The center uses Squeezed Lemonade and Scattered Straw and is paired with the Cracked Embossing Folder.

The daisy here uses Scattered Straw. The center is a combination of Gathered Twigs and Ground Espresso. This card uses the Woodgrain Embossing Folder.

And finally, this rose uses Festive Berries! Just ONE color – so you can see that the pigment can be concentrated and diluted to your liking – it’s a great watercolor medium! I paired this image with the Intertwined Embossing Folder.

The Bold Botanicals set comes with four images, so I ended up making 4 cards so I could share several different colors from the new Distress Watercolor Pencils release. I distressed each embossed panel with some Pumice Stone and Lost Shadow Distress Oxide Inks. You can see this most on the rose card – I was a bit heavy-handed on that one. All of the sentiments are from the Simon Says Stamp Thinking of You Sentiment Strips. For a fun grunge edging on the panels, I used the Tim Holtz Deckle Torn Edge Trimmer to cut them down.
