Simon Says Stamp – Magical Crafting

It’s been a while since I’ve made a Copic-colored card! To be honest, I avoid coloring anymore. Die-cutting and ink-blending with stencils are my preferred method of coloring. I think I got burnt out from all the hours of coloring I used to do! I’ll say this – it all takes me equally as long long to do because I’m so methodical when I’m going through the process. Coloring takes forever, die-cutting takes forever, and something that might take me 30 mins to ink-blend might take someone else 2 minutes. It’s always easier to replicate something quickly once a design’s been made, too. Ok ok…I’ll stop ranting. Coloring this card, I’ll admit, was a nice change from all the ink-blending I had been doing with stencils prior to CREATE when I was coming up with a card to teach.

Today’s card uses the Magical Crafting set, designed by Alberto Gava. His illustrations are adorable and I love the theme and illustrations from this fairy set. I started by stamping and coloring these images with Copic markers.

Copics:
Browns (thread spools): E30, E33, E35
Grays (needles): C2, C5
Skin: E00, E51, E11, E13
Blush: R30, R22
Brown Hair: E33, E23, E27
Blond Hair: YR30, YR21, YR24
Pinks: R81, R83, R85
Teals: BG10, BG11, BG13
Blues: BG01, BG02, BG05
Purples: B01, V04, V06

The background is ink-blended with my FAVORITE Distress Oxide combination: Tattered Rose, Worn Lipstick, and Seedless Preserves. Just lay it on heavy and let the colors blend! I say lay it on heavy, but the way I ink-blend, this happens in layers and I have to stop and take a break between each color. I’m definitely sweating by the time I’m done. I’m not joking. It really is an arm work-out!

When done, I sprayed it with some fine droplets and splattered it with some white paint. Then I added the images with 3D foam squares and stamped the sentiment. To finish, I added some Nuvo Glitter to the wings and added some droplets for texture.
