Hello friends!

Today’s project is made with fun techniques I hope you’ll enjoy! I created a shadow box project using 2D die-cuts and paper-weaving!

This project was made with love and it’s hard to describe in writing. I hope you’ll check out the video tutorial below to see it come together!

I love the rattan pattern and learned to weave it so I could do it on paper.

Here are some written directions, but I really recommend you watching the video.

28 8.5″ x 0.25″ strips for vertical and horizontal weaves
8 11″ x 0.25″strips for diagonal weaves (8 long, 8 short)

For an 8″ x 8″ area:

1. Starting at 0.75″ from the top, place horizontal strips down first, spacing 1.25” apart.
2. Starting at 0.75″ from the left, place vertical strips down, spacing 1.25” apart.
3. Place a second set of strips over vertical strips slightly below the first set of horizontal strips.
4.  Weave in a second set of vertical strips to the right of first set of vertical strips.
5.  Place diagonal strips from top left to bottom right under vertical strips, over horizontal strips.
6. Place diagonal strips from top right to bottom left over vertical strips, under horizontal strips.

I used the Aurora Blooms dies to die-cut some flowers and foliage. I used the Tim Holtz/Sizzix Shaping Kit to make the 2D (flat) die-cuts turn into 3D flowers.
