Hi Everyone!

Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and New Year!  I’ve been spending a lot of time with my family and have made little time to craft.  I made lots of purchases with the sales from Thanksgiving and they’ve all been organized and stored away – if I put them away, I won’t feel overwhelming guilty about not using them!  I’ve been reading more and even took one of Sandy Allnock’s online coloring courses.  Anyway, I finally made time to stamp!

This Dahlia turnabout makes cards so easy and beautiful!  After stamping them in 4 different colors, I wasn’t happy with my color choices.  It was a lot of contrast and wasn’t what I had in mind.  I wanted to add shimmer to some of the petals to bring out its color and thought I would add wink of stella to the pale yellow petals.  I chose silver – but didn’t realize how dark the silver was.  I gasped with the first stroke…instead of coloring the entire petal, I decided to make them flicked petal strokes instead.  I did all the yellow petals and liked how it looked, so I did it to all of the petals.  In the end, I really liked how it turned out!

I wanted to add a bold sentiment but I also wanted it to have some dimension.  I offset the black die-cut sentiment over the same sentiment cut in silver glitter cardstock to give it a drop-shadow effect.  There was a lot of glue residue – so I covered it all up and added some shine over the letters with glossy accents.
