Hi Friends!

I’ve been crafting with other amazing crafters this weekend and got to meet Melissa Hewitt (owner of Honey Bee Stamps) and got a chance to play with some new stamp sets. I created this card and thought I’d share today since it is also release day for Honey Bee Stamps. There is also an adorable snowman set that I really want and will be sure to shop!

I stamped the images using InkOn Fade Out ink to do some no line watercolor. I haven’t played with my Daniel Smith watercolors in a very long time – I feel like I don’t always have time time to use mediums that I’m not as comfortable with so I decided to use my DS watercolors this week.

I started with the flower petals adding paint directly to a damp pain brush and applying the paint in the nooks where color needs to be deeper. Then I cleaned the brush and used a damp brush and starting on the opposite end, I applied the water and moved towards the applied paint in the lower bottom of the petals – and this pulls the color out and blends it with the “white” areas where it is wet. I did this with all the petals, then then leaves, adding more color to the veins of the leaves. The berries are just dabs of paint and I went in with a green pen later to draw some stems going from the berries to the main stems.

When done, I drew a stitched and solid frame around the flowers to give the card some interest. I also added white gel dots to the flower filaments in the center. The sentiment is from two separate sets – Hugs and Thinking of You – and is stamped using Versafine Onyx Black ink and embossed with clear embossing powder.
