Welcome to Day 1 of the Hello Bluebird Release Showcase! The Hello Bluebird team is sharing a card everyday for the next four days and today’s focus is on the new Merry Pigs set!
My card today is a simple one. I took a look at the sentiments and felt that only ONE pig was appropriate (that’s my interpretation, anyway). Nicky Meek created a long card for today using all of the pigs and she did a wonderful job with her take on the set. To start, I stamped and colored the images using Copic markers. Copic colors used: E0000, E000, R20, G24, G46, BG13, BG49, E34, E27, C2, C5, R24, R39, Y13.
After coloring and cutting, I set the images aside to work on the background. Using the Hill and Dale die set, I cut a little hill for the bottom of my card and added clear lacquer to the top of the hill and added fine iridescent glitter to it to give it some sparkle. For the background, I ink-blended shaded lilac, Wilted Violet and Blueprint Sketch over light pink cardstock. This is my new favorite thing to do – ink-blending over a light cardstock – it makes it glow if you’re not too heavy-handed towards the center.
I waited for the ink-blended panel to dry (you can also apply some heat), I applied anti-static powder to the enter panel and embossed the sentiment and snowflakes using white embossing powder. I added the glittered hill panel and attached the image with foam tape. To finish the card, I added white gel accents over the image and used it to add varying sizes of dots over the background to create snow specks. I hope you enjoyed that project!
