Welcome to another product release blog hop for Pretty Pink Posh!  Today is day 2 (be sure to check out yesterday’s blog hop if you haven’t already!). It’s all sunshine and tropics and I hope you’ll enjoy it!  Summer time has officially reached us here in the Midwest.  Storms have kept away for about a week now and we’re starting to feel the intense heat!  You’ll be seeing lots of summer-related Pretty Pink Posh from me in the next several weeks as I try and branch out from my typical all-occasion cards.  For today, I decided to use a floral set (imagine that!). 

The new Hibiscus Flowers set is another great addition to Pretty Pink Posh’s floral collection!  I think I gravitate to the florals because I love searching online for inspiration on how to color the different flowers.  I try to mimic the real thing, but most of the time – it doesn’t really look the way I think it will when I finish.  The important thing is, that it ends up looking good on the card, right?

I started by working on my background for this card.  I used the Tropical Background stencil and ink-blended with Bundled Sage and Pine Needles Distress Oxide inks.  I concentrated the darker color towards the bottom and blended upward fading into a light blend of Bundled Sage.  When I was done, I decided to mute the color a bit with a layer of vellum.

The images are stamped and colored using Copic markers.  After coloring, I cut the images and then added white gel highlights to the images.  I then arrange this over the vellum piece, allowing for some overhang.  Some of the images are adhered directly onto the vellum, some using foam adhesive for added dimension.  Once the images were in place, I added adhesive to the backside of the vellum where it is hidden by the images to adhere the entire piece to the ink-blended/stenciled background.

For the sentiment, I die-cut the Sunshine Script die twice and glued them together for some height.  To give them a little bit of interest and shine, I added Nuvo Glitter drops on the lower half of the letters in Honey Gold.  I also added the same glitter drops to the hibiscus centers and added a few drops onto the vellum.  The sentiment embossed in white over black cardstock is from the new Tropical Birds stamp set which I hope to use in the upcoming weeks!
