Hello again, Friends!

I’m cutting close to the deadline for the current Lawn Fawnatics Challenge again. Gotta get those assignments in first in order to squeeze in some play time!

If you are a loyal reader, you’ll know that I don’t make a whole lot of summer cards. I’m trying to use lots of the summer release from my teams and the current theme for the Lawn Fawnatics Challenge just happens to be more summer fun! Summer is officially here in Kansas City and it’s hot and HUMID!!!!!

I was so inspired by Jenn Shurkus’ card – which looks a lot like the mood board above. I don’t have any alphabet dies, so I used Owen’s ABCs instead for my sentiment. The colors for the sentiments are Bubblegum, Peach Fuzz, Celery Stick, Merman, and Grape Jelly using Lawn Fawn inks. Check out her card! Pretty close to the mood board, right? She’s amazing.

My card is a little different and I decided that I wanted to use an interactive die. Here’s my take on this mood board:

I started by stamping all my images on white cardstock and coloring with Copic markers. The stamp sets I used are One the Beach (the umbrella, drink, and beach ball), Life is Good (palm trees, hammock, crab, sand castle, bucket, flip flops, sea shells), and Happy Summer (the watermelon).

After coloring, I die-cut all my images and set them aside to work on my card. I could not decide initially what kind of interactive card to make. I thought I wanted to use the new center picture die but felt my canvas would be too small. So I opted for the A2-sized panel and used the Let’s Toast Pull-Tab Add-On instead to get my crab to pop out above the sand castle. Don’t be intimidated (it’s much easier than it looks)! Kelly Marie makes wonderful videos to help walk you through it (I have to reference them every time to job my memory on how they should be used).

My background is ink-blended with Cracked Pistachio, Tumbled Glass, and Peacock Feathers for the sky and Vintage Photo Distress Oxide Ink for the sand. I splattered the panel with water and the coordinating ink to give it texture before adding the images and interactive element. The sentiment letters from Owen’s ABCs is adhered last using foam adhesive so the letters hover over the other images.

I hope you enjoyed this card! It always makes me so happy to create something using Lawn Fawn products and these challenges are giving me something to look forward to every 2 weeks.
