I’m thrilled to be an MFT FRIEND today! Be sure to check out the MFT Blog to find the full line up for more inspiration! I love this release and I sure hope you do too! I’m sharing a card today made using both new and older MFT products and I really hope you enjoy it!

My first card combines 3 new products using Fairy-Tale Friends, Rainbow Greetings, and the Magical Rainbow Die-namics. To compliment these stamp sets, I’m using the Stitched Cloud Edges Die-namics and Stitched Clouds Die-namics.

I began by stamping and coloring my images from the Fairy-Tale Friends stamp set using Copic markers. One colored and images were cut, I set them aside to work on my rainbow. The Magical Rainbow Die-namics comes with a full panel and cut rainbow pieces. I used the full panel to add dry adhesive to and used it to adhere the rainbow pieces to for support after coloring them with Copic Markers as well. Of course, you could also die-cut these rainbow pieces directly from colored cardstock, but I like being able to choose my shades and I think it’s less waste.

To fit all these elements on a card, I decided to make a slimline card – the final size of my card is 4″ x 8.5″. I ink-blended a panel using Cracked Pistachio, Tumbled Glass, and Peacock Feathers Distress Oxide Inks. After ink-blending, I splatted the panel with water droplets and white paint. To create my clouds, I die-cut the Stitched Clouds Die-namics once using white cardstock, and then again using vellum for a second layer and also used the Stitched Cloud Edges Die-namics to cut a vellum layer of clouds as well.

After all the elements were prepared and the card panel dry of ink, I adhered the bottom and lower vellum clouds first before adding the rainbow, smaller clouds and unicorns. Finally, I finished my card by tucking the little hearts behind the cloud layers. The sentiment is stamped on the vellum using the Rainbow Greetings stamp set with StazOn Jet Black ink – this ensures that the ink dries immediately and there is no smearing on the vellum surface.

My second card uses the new Drink Up the Sunshine set and is paired with the Swimming Pool Die-namics and Swimming Pool Shaker Pouch to create a fun shaker card.

I started by die cutting my swimming pool using MFT’s Watercolor Wash patterned paper using the yellow shade to mimic concrete around typical pools.  I also cut a separate panel for the water area.  After applying my shaker pouch in the open window and adhering it down, I set it aside to dry.  I used Peacock Feathers Distress Oxide Ink and ink-blended the outer edges of the pool panel to give it some depth before filling the shaker pouch with my favorite sequin/jewel mix and adhering it to the yellow panel to secure my shaker mechanism.

I stamped and colored my images using Copic Markers (Skin: 0, E50, E41, R20; Pinks:  RV11, R56, R43, RV25, Teals:  BG11, BG34; Purples:  V0000, V01, V04; Greens:  YG61, G24, G46, Yellow/Orange:  Y13, YR68, R05; Browns:  E31, E55, E23, E37; Grays:  C3, C6) ) and die-cut the images, setting them aside to also cut out the word Sunshine 3 times to stack for dimension using 110lb white cardstock.  I also prepared my sentiment leader by stamping the sentiment from the Drink Up the Sunshine stamp set on black cardstock and embossing with white powder. 

Once all my elements were prepared, I began adhering all the images to create my scene.  The word sunshine needed some dimension on the latter half of the word since the shaker pouch does come up from the card a bit – so I doubled up on thin strips of foam adhesive behind the letters (be impressed – ha!) so that it lay nicely across the pool.  I also doubled up on the embossed sentiment leader so it was the same height as the word sunshine.
