Hi Friends!

I’ve got a watercolor card to share with you today.  It’s been a while since I’ve watercolored or used a Pretty Pink Posh floral set!  Today, I’m watercoloring Anemones!

I used Daniel Smith watercolors for my project today:  Quinacridone Lilac, New Gamboge, Green Gold, and Sap Green.  I stamped my images on Arches Cold Press Watercolor Paper using Versafine Onyx Black ink.  I didn’t heat set it, though I probably should have – because the ink smeared a bit.  Luckily, it didn’t show up under the watercolor.  You can also emboss with clear ink – that’s really helpful for keeping watercolor from bleeding from one area to another.

I painted one petal at a time skipping around to stay away from wet petals as I worked.  I applied a little bit of paint to areas where I wanted the darker pigmented colors and dragged that color out with a damp brush.  It took me about 3 hours to paint – with a few distractions from the kids, of course.  Sometimes, I wish I could watercolor loosely – it would save me a lot of time!  I honestly don’t think I can – I require too much control when working…ha.

My background is ink-blended with Tumbled Glass and Salty Ocean Distress Oxide Inks.  I splattered the panel with some water then trimmed the panel to 4”x5.25” to mat a light brown panel.  I arranged my flowers on my ink-blended panel first and splattered it with watered-down white paint.  To finish my card, I mounted it onto the light brown panel and then to a card base.  The sentiment is embossed on black cardstock and adhered across the center of card using a stamp from the Birdie Friends stamp set.
