I’m back for another Lawn Fawnatics Challenge card! The current theme’s challenge is Beautiful Beaches – so I’m recreating a scene that I love from the Bahamas!
There’s a lot to put in a beach scene, so I’ve created another slimline card. My total card size is 4.25″ x 8.5″ – too many great images and elements to put on an A2-sized card.
For today’s card, I’m using a few different Lawn Fawn products: Smooth Sailing, Life is Good, Stitched Hillside Border, and the Scallop Treat Box Beach House Add-On.
I started by coloring all my images using Copic Markers, then die-cutting the images before working on the background.
Blues/Teals: B000, BG32, BG15, BG49,
Greens: YG07, G03, G09,
Reds: R00, R20, R43, RV25, R05, R14, R24, R27, R39,
Yellows/Oranges: Y0000, Y06, YR18,
Browns: E41, E31, E23, E29
Grays: C0, C1, C3, C6
I masked off the horizon to ink-blend the ocean and sky with Distress Oxide Inks (Peacock Feathers, Mermaid Lagoon for the ocean; Tumbled Glass, Salty Ocean for the sky). I also die-cut a few pieces from the Scallop Treat Box Beach House Add-On and ink-blended the roof with Salty Ocean and Chipped Sapphire. Other elements were die-cut with white and colored cardstock and colored with Copic markers if needed for color.
I also cut a hillside from the Stitched Hillside Border die to color with Copics for beach. Once everything was colored, I began constructing my scene. I stamped some waves in the water using white pigment ink – it didn’t show up too well in the photos but it’s there :).
It’s been more than 3 years, but I managed to make a quick video for you. It wasn’t planned…but I had played with my camera earlier this week and looked up after coloring these images and realized I never turned the camera off. Oops! So I started recording to force myself learn new software and spent two days teaching myself to edit and do a voice over and I’m so glad to have this done. This is such a wonderful card Caly! I love your choice of colors, the ocean is so tranquil and the little boat super cute! The whole scene from the little lighthouse to the very clever and beautiful beach house is perfection!
