Lawn Fawnatics – Challenge #72 – Under the Sea

Hi, Friends!

There’s a new Lawn Fawnatics Challenge and it’s a fun one! We’re making cards that are inspired by a book, movie or song!

My card today is inspired by The Little Mermaid! I’ll be honest…I thought it was challenging for me to choose a theme for my card today. I thought The Little Mermaid might have not been challenging enough – but I really did try to create a card that captures a scene from the movie and I’m proud of it!

I want to share with my inspiration for my card. I looked for photos captured by the “Under the Sea” scene/song.

I LOVE this adorable scene and I tried to incorporate as many layers as possible on my card.

I stamped and colored my images with Copic markers. I realized that my card was going to need to be a slimline card in order to incorporate all of my images and to create my scene with a personalized sentiment. After die-cutting, I began ink-blending my background to re-create the ocean floor colors with Distress Oxide Inks (Tea Dye, Hickory Smoke, Evergreen Bough, Mermaid Lagoon, Cracked Pistachio, Blueprint Sketch).

Copics:
Sandollar:  E41, E42, E43
Rock:  C1, C4, C6, BV01
Greens:  G14, G16, G21, G24, G28
Teals:  BG11, BG13, BG18
Skin:  E00, E53, E04, R20
Purples:  BV01, BC04, V17
Reds:  R22, R24, R27, R39
Oranges:  Y13, YR04
Blues:  B02, B29
Pinks:  RV21, RV23, RV25

After ink-blending, I added water splatters and embossed air bubbles all over in white. To give the bubbles more transparency, I added water to them and removed the Distress Oxide Ink.

The funnest part for me is layout! Once I have everything set up and adhered down, it makes my heart sing! The sentiment is die-cut from Cole’s ABCs and I spelled out the words Under the Sea to finish my card using Lawn Fawn’s white glitter cardstock.

I hope you enjoyed this card! It’s such a fun theme and I really can’t wait to see what people create! Thanks so much for stopping by today!
