Hi, Friends!
Altenew is releasing some fabulous products today, including an all new Watercolor Essential Set of 12 vibrant and smooth colors, watercolor paper and the Paint-A-Flower: Iris set. Be sure to check out the Altenew Blog for all the information! The entire Watercolor Essential collection and Paint-A-Flower: Iris set can be found HERE.

I meant to use the new watercolor cardstock and completely forgot! It’s a more smooth cardstock and is whiter – which I love – and comes in 2 different size (a full 9″ x 12″ pad and A2 loose sheets)! I’ll be sure to remember to use it the next time! I used the new watercolor set to paint the Paint-A-Flower: Iris set after stamping it with a light gray ink. I used 4 colors to blend and add interest with color gradients on the petals and leaves using Deep Iris, Persian Blue, Forest Glades, Emerald, and Warm Sunshine.

After watercoloring my iris, I added some water all around and added color from the leftover paint I had in my palette – dabbing different colors all over to create an organic background. It’s definitely different for me, as I usually paint in a very controlled manner and don’t mix paints.

To add interest, after embossing and attaching my sentiment, I added some shimmer over the flowers and embellished my card with some clear confetti sequins.

When I first saw your card, I was wondering how you got that kind of “fuzzy” look, but then you explained that you added water around the project. Ahhh. It really did change it up. Now I wish you had a video so I could see the before and after you did that. No matter. Thanks for crafting for us this week. The blog hop has been fun to do. Staying home, crafting and being safe. My schedule until we come out the other side. You take care also. 🙂

I love your card – even though it wasn’t on the smoother cardstock (lol!). It is so beautiful and full of texture. And what you chanced with the background – stressing your boundaries – turned out perfectly! Very nice!! God bless!
